- Wednesday, April 06, 2016

On 2004-14 Mazda 3 with a 2.0L, 2004-09 Mazda 3 with a 2.3L non-turbo and 2006-10 Mazda 5 with a 2.3L, there are two different versions of the release bearing.  The OE style bearing came with the clutch fork but the OE clutch fork is prone to failure.  Mazda redesigned the clutch fork which requires a different style bearing.  In order to use the new style bearing you must also replace the clutch fork with the new design and a new pivot pin/ball. Read More

1987-1998 Ford Trucks with a 7.3L originally were equipped with a dual mass flywheel.  Platinum Driveline offers replacement clutch kits and corresponding solid flywheels.  New bolts come with these new flywheels and must be used with a thread sealant to prevent oil leaks that could potentially leak onto the clutch disc material.   Read More

Jeep Release Issues

- Monday, February 15, 2016

Jeep models from 1980-1986 that use an external slave cylinder need to be inspected for wear, misalignment, etc. at the end of the slave cylinder.  Check the pivot, seal and washer.  If any of these parts are worn, broken or missing, then the slave cylinder travel will be affected resulting in release problems. Read More

Dodge Truck Hydraulics

- Friday, February 12, 2016

It is recommended on 2005 and newer Dodge Trucks to replace hydraulic system with our pre-bled system.  The stock system does not have enough pressure to engage the replacement clutch.  This is very important, especially if you are upgrading to a heavier duty clutch.  Part number PS0523-2 is a pre-bled, sealed hydraulic system that will fix issues of a stock system not fully engaging the clutch.  This will also save time from the difficult bleed procedure required on the OE system. Read More

- Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Platinum Driveline offers a line of Concentric Slave Cylinders (CSC) with or without the bearing.  Some CSCs come with a replaceable bearing making repairs less costly and less time consuming.  The thrust face of the bearing is in contact with the pressure plate diaphragm at all times, sometimes causing the bearing to fail before the CSC.        Read More
